Magic Moments

When Tom got sick he was banned to the basement. I spent a couple days nursing him back to health but after he saw the doctor and got some medicine I decided the boys and I needed a break from the walls of our house. We threw some clothes in a bag and headed up to the cabin where we spent a beautiful few days with Pappy and Marme. The flexibility of homeschooling is amazing when I can take my kids away anytime. :) And of course we are blessed to have a cozy cabin and a Pappy and Marme that are so close.

We are slowly getting back to regular programming around here. Tom is on the mend, thank goodness! Without further ado, I thought I would just post a few pictures from our school days. As you can see, these were meant to be posted awhile ago since my boys were wearing shorts in some of these pictures. Tomorrow the foretasted high is 46 degrees with sprinkles....that doesn't really make going to a pumpkin patch with Aiden's class sound like fun. Brrr! This is what Sage has been working on :)

In case you were wondering, we're still here. I don't have any exciting reason for not posting recently and  I do have blog posts looming in my head. Simply, this blog was put on the back burner while my boys were sick.  I'm still living in a haze as I try to dig myself out of the mess that comes with the boys being ill, one after the other, and having a husband who currently is quarantined to the basement because he caught the dreaded plague. Nonetheless, here is a bunch of nothing...in list form because writing a paragraph is still to much for my fuzzy Mama brain. 1. Aiden got sick almost 2 weeks ago. He tested positive for strep throat. :( 2. Aiden was sick for 5 days and as I was celebrating his recovery Sage got sick.  3. Sage did not sleep while he was sick. He was soo miserable that I had to hold him most of the night in the rocking chair. Being that sleep deprived brought me back to the days when Sage was a newborn and Aiden was almost 4 and I spent most of th...

My garden was finished several weeks ago. I turned all the big tomatoes into soup, we ate all the peppers, cukes, onions, and basil. I did loose about one or two meals of green beans because I just didn't get them picked. I loved my little straw bale garden and it did surprisingly well. I'm planning for next year now that I know a little more about gardening and know a little more about what my family eats. I certainly won't be planting so many baby tomatoes next year! I want a bigger garden next year so I'm trying to find a workable solution to make that happen. Tom doesn't want any more of our yard taken up by the garden and he isn't enough of a hippie to find aesthetic beauty in growing your own food. He thinks the garden is a bit of an eye sore. So, we'll see. I might need to be happy with my small 4 or 5 bale garden to find a way to put it at the lake or our churche's community garden. Wild Kratts are all the craze at our house and I suppose they have been for awhile. Wild Kratts, in case you aren't in the loop, is a show featuring two brothers, Chris and Martin Kratt, who are animal experts. Chris and Martin are brothers in real life and co-hosts of many educational shows, one being Wild Kratts where they turn into cartoon guys and tour through the animal world using their special "suits" to have close up tours of animals and their habitats. Sometimes there is a problem or mystery to solve or adventure to be had. The show is rich with animal facts and each show ends with Chris and Martin displaying the real animal the show featured and talking about what makes it unique, etc. Clearly it's a must see if your boys are animal loving like mine. Only season one is on Netflix but I just realized a new episode is on at 4 o'clock each day. I think I might let the boys watch it at that time. 4 o'clock is the beginning of bewitching hour at our house...

The little boys and I went with Pappy and Marme this past weekend to Des Moines for a big family get-together in honor of my Grandmother's 80th Birthday. We left on Friday, we of course went to our Chiropractor, and on Friday night Aiden and I went to the Ballard Football game so that I could see my really, really good friend, Kate. I wish I would have had the presence of mind to take a picture,but I didn't. I was too excited to see her to think of that! Anyway, our time catching up is always sweet and this time we won't wait so long in between. On Saturday the party was in full swing. Aiden and Sage were very excited to get to spend the day swimming in the pool at the hotel and Aiden loved, LOVED, LOVED hanging out with his second cousin, Addy. Those two were quite the pair.
