Magic Moments

Last week Aiden had soccer camp for three hours each morning and Sage went to vacation bible school with his best friend each morning. That means I spent 2 hours each morning playing taxi and Cade had a weird, if not nonexistent, nap schedule. Aiden had a great time and after 3 hours of intense soccer coaching each morning he was exhausted. Sage had a great time at VBS each morning, I think he learned some thing but mostly his reports of the morning included what game he played outside and what he ate for snack. Sage is my social butterfly so he LOVED spending each morning with his best friend. Those two are the cutest and everyweek the swap who's house they will play at for the day.  Out of all the business that was last week the thing Tom and I realized was that Aiden is growing up. Sports aren't really just for fun anymore. Soccer is about footwork and teamwork and it's more technical and no one gets high fives and trophies just for showing up. The shift is happening at ...

The long and short of it is this: we are surrounded by wonderful Dads. Tom and I tell each other often we had fairy tale childhoods and that's only because we had Dad's who were servants, who invested in us, and who love us unconditionally. It's because of our Dad's that my kids have the very best Dad. He teaches them how to be men, he shows them how to love Jesus, they are parented every day with love and grace. I think to myself everyday I could never attempt to wrangle this circus of boys without Tom. Frequently I'm completely overwhelmed by their energy and their desires but Tom steps in and all is well. We are all so thankful for him and love him so much. I figured Tom would sleep in this morning but when you wake up with 2 out of 3 kids in your bed it's kind of hard to sleep in. Yesterday the boys wrapped their presents for Tom and Sage slept with his gift to Tom in his pillow case so he wouldn't forget to give it to him this morning. ;) Tom opened h...

We're still over here in full tball swing. We've watched tball wearing winter coats, we've been rained out on numerous occasions, and we've watched tball while we've sweat to death. I'm guessing that's normal. Tball might be the cutest thing. Honestly, it's probably not different than trying to heard a bunch of cats. The little ball players are constantly having to be reminded or positioned or encouraged or redirected. They sit down while they play out field, they have no idea when it's their time to bat, they leave the field to get drinks, by the time they finally get their hands on the ball everyone is at a stand still and the runner has been on base for a full 45 seconds but we encourage them to throw it to first anyway. Today I took pictures of Sage's game and the pictures make it look like the game was a lot more intense than it was. ;) I laughed to myself as I watched Sage stand in the out field, pick his nose, and wipe it on his pants. We went to the Splash Park today. Don't be fooled by the pictures. My children were fairly whiny the whole time we were there. For whatever reason the boys aren't really that enthused about splash parks. I think they are the greatest thing bc it's less intense than taking them swimming but the boys have hardly ever been fans. Cade thought it was fun and liked to splash in the water but the other two were done after 10 minutes. I probably won't take them again. We leave for the cabin soon and we'll be well entertained while there. It's hard to imagine that by the time we return to West Virginia it will be time to start school. I'm choosing not to even think about that.

Cade is using his words more and more and we laugh at him and his cuteness daily. I think my favorite is when he drops something and he says, "oots!" (oops) "I got it!" I also love when I say, "I love you!" and he responds with, " I you too!" He's just so cute right now I want to bottle him up! It's just shy of nine o'clock. My children were finally all tucked in just a few minutes ago after the usual amount of bedtime drama. Tom is at a work function as per the usual it seems. The day was long....good...but long. Tom and I worked out at the Y this morning, I spent a couple hours with the boys at Heritage Farm, and the rest of the day was yard work. My body is sore but at least my yard looks better. I bribed the boys with screen time if they would pull weeds. And they did pull weeds for almost an hour so they earned their time for sure! For having almost no yard space the yard we do have takes a lot of upkeep and it's almost too much for my Type A to handle. Anyway, the best part about today was going up in a hot air balloon. I had been planning on visiting the Heritage Farm today with the boys but last night when I read hot air balloons might be an option I got EXCITED about taking the boys to Heritage Farm.
