Magic Moments

It's so fitting that we are celebrating Sage and his 2nd birthday on Thanksgiving Day. He is a blessing to all of us in our little family! Looking back, I remember how badly I wanted a November baby. Sage was a name chosen for very special reasons, but it was so fitting for our little guy who was indeed born just a couple days after Thanksgiving. God answered our prayers and we checked out of the hospital on the very last day of November. When I think of our family, the addition of Sage, and what God had in store for us, I see one prayer answered after another and those answered prayers are added to our Thankful List today. Our sweet Sage....he is our snuggle bug. He is sweet and sensitive and those traits are reflected even when he plays. Without prompting from any of us, Sage will help his puppy fold his paws to pray. He likes to feed his puppy and shares his paci with his puppy.  If Aiden is in trouble or upset, it's not uncommon for Sage to sit beside him and pat his ba...

My sweet Sagey is somewhat of a "takes matters into his own hands" kind of guy. I have found him on the counter by way of using stool and helping himself to M & M's from the cupboard. :) And while the Leap Frog Fridge Phonics and I have taught him his letters, my littlest man is determined and absorbs things as quickly as he can in hopes of keeping up with his big brother. It doesn't matter what it is, Sage wants to be included. I laugh when I hear him count because this week his numbers go like this, "One, two, fee (three), eighteen!"  When Sage asks to read the bible he demands the "fight one." Which means he only wants to read about David and Goliath. Aside from David and Goliath, he thinks every other man is either "Jesus" or "Doe-fef" (that's Joseph for those of you who don't speak toddler). I am in love with Sage's baby speak. He tries SO hard to find all the words and put them all together. And as long as ...

I'm a sucker for traditions. I LOVE them. I think traditions bring families together, give kids a sense of who they are and where they belong, and in general just bring about a certain sweetness from familiarity. In this house we have traditions that have been carried on from my family and many from Tom's family. This year we are beginning a  new tradition: The 24 days of Christmas. I LOVE Christmas and think the whole season should be savored. I'm doing my best to get all the hustle and bustle (which IS important) done this month so everything is put in place to enjoy the season. To fully enjoy the whole month of December I've planned an activity for each day of the month leading up to Christmas. This idea came from my friend, Steph, and I'm so. so. EXCITED! Technically we have already started our 24 Days of Christmas. We were able to participate in Operation Christmas Child at our church and the boys spent a day last week making Apple Cinnamon ornaments...

Friday was nice! It was slow! I didn't get a whole lot done, but that's okay. I have several unfinished projects around here, which I hate, but I have next week to tie up loose ends. On my list for next week is....finish up the decorating, finish shopping, finish the good book I let myself indulge in, plan Sage's birthday party, and plan our 24 days of Christmas Calendar. My friend Steph does a fun Christmas themed activity each day leading up to Christmas and I think it's a wonderful idea. I have a lot of Christmas things I want to do, so making an actual calendar will insure we get to soak up all the Christmas we can....and bring seasonal cheer each day!  For now, here a few Nature Center pictures. It's Friday! :) I'm sipping my morning cup of tea, the sun is shining, it's supposed to be relatively warm, our school load is light, and we have a trip to the nature center planned. I'll be honest, homeschooling has taken away much of the margin I had in my life and sometimes leaves me feeling overwhelmed when I look at my "to do" list. So, Fridays are closely guarded...they bring a day with not much to do and a promise of fun (as long as I can get the house cleaned on Thursdays :) ). So, as much as I want to blog, my posts are less frequent because I'm tied up elsewhere. Today I'm checking in and once again promising more posts. I want Sage's babyhood to be documented as well as Aiden's. We are entering a wonderful time of year! My house might be decorated for Christmas, but my heart is overflowing with thankfulness!
