Magic Moments

There's lots to say about this house, probably because the house itself has a lot to say since it is 100 years old...or will be next year. Tom thinks we should have a birthday party for our house....we'll see. Anyway, it's pretty and it's quirky. And when I say it's quirky just know this house has many fewer quirks than other ancient homes we've seen. The thing is, some people have really stupid ideas when it comes to their homes. I've seen some crazy ugly stuff done to what was once a beautiful house in this town. I kind of consider it somewhat of a miracle our house has held onto most of it's originality without being defaced, so to speak. Like, no one has painted over wood work, or done remodels that don't make sense. There are a couple things I'm mourning over. I'm certain at one time the original walls were lath and plaster. Sadly, the walls were once wallpapered and now the wall paper has been painted. Even the ceiling was wall papere...

There are many places to explore in West Virginia. Some of the places will require an overnight stay so we haven't gone yet but are making plans. The boys love the creek at this place so we went back over the weekend. They played in the creek and did some hiking. I stayed behind on the hike because I wasn't up for taking Cade...he is getting to be almost too much to carry around all the time. I'm pretty glad I stayed behind because today Tom announced the potenial for rattle snakes. Now, I'm not deathly afriad of snakes, I've held them given the opportunity. But I have no desire to meet a dangerous one in the wild. No thanks. The day was lovely and Sage has inherited Aiden's adventure vest. This stage is one of my favorites. The boys have been spending most of these summer days outside (when it's not raining which isn't often). We had wanted to go to a park today but I spent all day trying to get Cade to take a nap, thus we were home bound. We were all enjoying outside for a bit and I took some snapshots of the boys with my better camera just to freeze time. They grow so quickly. Here they are doing their favorite thing. Playing with weapons. My beautiful baby! He turned 8 months this past week. I have had cute conversations with Sage recently. It went like this: Me: Wouldn't it be amazing to be alive when Jesus come back to get us? Sage: You mean we don't have to die first? Mama: No, if we haven't died yet we can still go to heaven with Jesus. It just depends on when he comes. Sage: Oh! Mama: Won't it be amazing to hear the trumpet and see Jesus coming on the clouds? Cade mimicks quite a bit. I caught he and Tom being super silly, mostly laughing and screaming back and forth. This little boy is busy, busy just like his brothers. He fits right in. Tom bought me a "gift" (read: something he wanted but he told me it was for me so I didn't make him return it). I think it's called an Echo. Essentially it's a smart speaker. You tell it what to do and it does it. It does things like play music, give the weather report, tell jokes, answer questions, put together your shopping list, etc. The boys LOVE it. Sage is constantly telling it to play songs and although he's only 4 he has no patience for kid music like Rafi. He usually chooses the Beatles or whatever other song Daddy has shown him. When Grandmommy and Grandpa called to say they were coming to visit we were so, so excited! It gave us all something really wonderful to look forward to. We had a great weekend going to church and taking Tucker for walks to the park. We spent Monday at a place called Carter Caves. We toured one of their caves, let the boys mine for gems, and spent time playing at the creek. The park was beautiful. We'll be back for sure to do more hiking trails, explore more caves, and spend more time playing in the creek. The weather has been kind of cold and really rainy so thankfully we had an ok day to visit the caves. However, I'm told it's usually really, really hot here already so I'm taking this cool weather as a gift from God to break me in slowly to the weather here. The first week we were here I really thought I would melt. All the neighbors had their AC on already even though it was only April. I refused to turn ours on bc for real, the AC in April seems ridiculous. The cool...
