Magic Moments

Sage finished another week of swimming lessons. He passed 2 levels in 2 weeks and so next time he'll be ready for level 3. He's so excited about this because he caught up with his best friend who has been in swimming longer than Sage and is already in level 3. Sage's teacher spoke with me today and told me Sage has great technique and has learned so quickly. She wants him to continue through the levels with momentum because she thinks he's a natural and talented swimmer. It's kinda funny to think about that seeing as I couldn't get that kid to do anything in the water. Sage will continue with swimming because he has a long way to go before I'd call him a swimmer, but we're so proud of the progress he's made. I'm not sure swimming is his passion but his little body is a power house for sure so we'll see how far he takes it. Guitar is still his number one love and I wouldn't have it any other way. Another post about Aiden and soccer. I think he's been in love with the sport since his first soccer season when he was 5. His training goes all Summer and his coach also adds soccer camp once school is over. Aiden has been at soccer camp from 9-12 for the past two weeks with his soccer team just working on getting better and improving. His coach is always talking about ball touches and how each ball touch adds up to a lot and you improve little by little. We leave for the cabin this week so Aiden will have a break but he'll be doing his soccer homework in MN and he'll be back at training and camp again come August. We're looking forward to Aiden's second year with his academy and seeing all he can do.

The families from Aiden's soccer team all got together and went to a Columbus Crew soccer game together last weekend. It was a team building activity of sorts but also a chance for the boys to watch professional soccer players at work. We all had a great time! It was great to see the boys together off the field and it was so fun to see them all lined up with their eyes on the field. Their coach, who is the best and who never stops coaching, coached them throughout the game pointing out everything that was going on. Columbus Crew went into the second half three points behind but ended up tying the game before the end so it was an exciting game for sure. The boys cannot wait to go back. The team and siblings all got to high five the players and practice penalty kicks on the field at the end of the game. I gave up trying to teach Sage to swim. He needs a teacher other than myself and so each day he's at the college in our town attending swimming lessons. At first he was extremely unhappy that he had to go. But, his teacher has been great and he's listening to what she says and he's learning. It's a huge burden off my shoulders and Sage is encouraged with his progress (and so am I!). The pool is also used for competitive swimming so the temperature in the pool is cold. Sage's lips are usually blue after his 40 minute lesson so he makes a bee line for the hot tub. It's his little happy place where he relaxes after his swimming time. ;) While more lessons are in his future we're off to a good start.

Aiden has been at soccer each morning for a few hours so that has left time for the little boys and I to hang out or do some special things. On Wednesday we went to Heritage Farm. A place we've been to several times but love it just the same. Cade LOVED the little barn and petting zoo they have and it was fun to take him now that he's at an age where he understands more and is more interactive. Sage is going to study American History in school this year so the exhibits were a great thing for him to see (again). They loved the animals so much they want to go back this Wednesday....as long as the weather won't make me melt that may be a possibility. :) Sage is little and Cade is big so with only four pounds between them they were a pretty even match for the teeter totter.

The boys complete a year of AWANA. They loved going and they were rockstars at learning their verses. Aiden finished his book and Sage did his book, his review book and an extra credit book. They worked hard and I know they loved socializing with their friends as well. AWANA is a fabulous way for them to spend their Wednesday evening but I'll be honest, I'm so glad for a break. The Wednesday night AWANA pick up and drop off was my least favorite of all. Considering Tom was always the one to pick them up I'm not sure why I hated it so much, but it's obviously worth it. Those verses are hidden in their hearts forever. They both had speaking parts in their end of the year program. Sage did great but was so shy about being up there that he made funny faces each time I made I contact with him. I kinda wish he'd never grow up because I love the cute little way he has about him.

Sage lost his first tooth. Given that Sage is a bit of a dramatic child, and considering how much we talked about his loose tooth, when he finally lost the tooth it was almost a non event. He came into the kitchen and said, "Mama, my tooth came out." There was no blood, there was no worrying about how it was going to come out, there was no pain and no tears. Thankfully. The Tooth Fairy paid a visit and came in through our special fairy door, leaving a trail of fairy dust and put a note and golden dollars under Sage's pillow. He was really shy about the Tooth Fairy coming so he didn't say much about that either. He's got a lot of teeth left to loose so I'm not assuming this will be the norm. Maybe next time he won't be so quiet about the whole experience. Aiden still has 12 baby teeth left to loose so I have a feeling the Tooth Fairy visits are going to be frequent.
