The Mommy Diaries PArt VII- Poo Madness!

So, I wasn't going to blog about this. But, I talked to my friend, Natalie, today and the story is kind of funny....24 hours after it happened anyway. I don't know if it's just us or if no one else talks about it, but Natalie brought up that about every 3rd post that I write has to do with poo. I'm sensing a theme here. Seriously, does anyone else have poo horror stories? Natalie told me I should write a book...."The Adventures of Poo." She definitely had me laughing. Anyway, I might not write a book, but I will write a short blog.

It begins with Aiden eating more solid food. Solid food leads to more solid poo...you mommies out their know what I mean. The story gets more interesting when I remind you all that we cloth diaper. I'll spare you my soapbox rant on how everyone should cloth diaper. Anyway, newborn poo is no problem...right into the washer it can go. Solid food poo must be disposed of in the toilet. I don't know how it happened but somehow I must have missed getting a diaper full of poo cleaned out before washing it. I went about washing the dipes as normal and then throwing them in the dryer. When I got my dipes out of the dryer is when the nightmare began. I realized I missed some poo in one of the dipes because my entire dryer was covered in a thin layer of poo (I discovered that putting poo in the dryer must make it melt)....and there was a chunk...and thats all I'll say about that.

So....a bucket of bleach water and lots of scrubbing later. And a container of clorox wipes. And a wipe down with all purpose cleaner with white paper towels just to make sure that the white paper towels came back white. And an hour of scrubbing....I think we're back to normal. The dipes had to be rewashed and soaked too...and bleached which normally I don't do but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Tom is still completely unaware of this incident. He would FREAK out if he knew of such yuckiness! I've never thought twice about cloth dipes...I LOVE them...but last night disposable dipes did cross my mind.

Go ahead and laugh at this story. After the fact it really is funny. I just hope I'm not the only mommy with so many poo mishaps. I have a feeling this won't be the last poo story since Aiden is only our first baby and is only 7 months old. We have a long way to go.

Apple Creek

A new year, a new orchard. This year we tried out Apple Creek Orchard and it was a really pretty place. We picked apples, took a hay ride, and the boys had fun with the apple slinger. We were joined by Tom's parents and it feels so good to have them now living close by instead of far away.

Almost to the finish line.

It's hard to believe that Aiden turns 18 in one week and walks through graduation in just one month. After more than a decade of homeschooling, 2 years of PSEO, and no less than one million moments that I'll treasure forever, my oldest will be an adult and graduated. Great things are ahead for my boy!

Happy Birthday, Cade!

My littlest is seven and it's hard  not to be sad. We couldn't be without him, and we're so glad he's ours.  At seven years old Cade loves to do what everyone else is doing. He will NOT play by himself, and maybe it's because he's used to having someone to entertain him all the time. He loves legos and soccer. He also loves to read. I am ALWAYS finding Cade trying to tackle reading a book he probably isn't quite ready for. Lately he's been trying to read The Hobbit. While he's able to read all the words, he just doesn't have the depth of understanding to read it independently quite yet. He LOVES Tom Sawyer so he was delighted to find an abridged version to read.  Cade makes up his own mind about things. He will NOT be bossed around. He holds his own, so I don't worry about his brothers pushing him over. Cade also won't be pushed over physically. He is one tough kid. If Cade is crying, I know he is actually hurt because he never cries ove...
