The Last Days of Summer

We haven't had much going on this week which has been nice. Mostly we've stayed in where it's cool and even though it doesn't really matter for us since Aiden will be going to school at home, I figured it was as good a time as any to get hair cuts, vaccinations (which were TERRIBLE!), new tennis shoes, and do some Fall Clothes Shopping. Today my plan was to go to the Splash Pad since it might be our last chance before they close over Labor Day.
For whatever reason my boys would choose the park hands down over the splash pad anyday....even 95 degrees in the shade days. I originally chose a splash pad with no park, but we ended up here instead mostly because I realized it was 2 miles from our house instead of a 25 minute drive. For the record, I would choose the splash pad over the park anyday...ESPECIALLY on 95 degrees in the shade kind of days.

So we played at the park in the heat. I made them (and myself) get wet every now and again to cool off.

The summary is Sage is a dare devil, tries his hardest to keep up with Aiden, and is undaunted by heights. What Aiden lacks in bravery he makes up for in speed. Keeping track of these two (in the heat) at a park with more than one play set is super fun.
This was the evening activity and I'm hoping and praying they sleep well so I can sleep well.

100% boys indeed. It does not matter what temp it is they can't get enough of parks and dirt. Super cute pictures of them playing. I too would have been at the splash pad.

Almost to the finish line.

 It's hard to believe that Aiden turns 18 in one week and walks through graduation in just one month. After more than a decade of homeschooling, 2 years of PSEO, and no less than one million moments that I'll treasure forever, my oldest will be an adult and graduated. Great things are ahead for my boy!

Happy Birthday, Cade!

 My littlest is seven and it's hard  not to be sad. We couldn't be without him, and we're so glad he's ours.  At seven years old Cade loves to do what everyone else is doing. He will NOT play by himself, and maybe it's because he's used to having someone to entertain him all the time. He loves legos and soccer. He also loves to read. I am ALWAYS finding Cade trying to tackle reading a book he probably isn't quite ready for. Lately he's been trying to read The Hobbit. While he's able to read all the words, he just doesn't have the depth of understanding to read it independently quite yet. He LOVES Tom Sawyer so he was delighted to find an abridged version to read.  Cade makes up his own mind about things. He will NOT be bossed around. He holds his own, so I don't worry about his brothers pushing him over. Cade also won't be pushed over physically. He is one tough kid.
