A Very Merry Weekend

For years Tom and I have always watched "Mickey's Christmas Carol." We love this movie and both remember watching it as kids. So, it's been fun to continue this tradition with the boys....which is exactly what we did. Saturday afternoon we snuggled on the couch, had popcorn and M & M's, and watched "Mickey's Christmas Carol." That night after dinner, bath, and jammies we threw the kids in the car and went to Holiday Lights in the Park at Lake Phalen. It's a fun light display and reminds me of the park and light display where Tom and I had our wedding reception. I had envisioned having a really cozy time in the car with popcorn and hot cocoa. But, by the time evening came the boys were tired and so were we. We tossed them in the car (Sage was screaming) and went to the lights. They both ended up loving it, but it didn't feel all that peaceful because Sage did. not. stop. talking. the. entire. time. He pointed out EVERYTHING he saw a million times. It was like a broken record. And when we drove past the gingerbread house Sage demanded to "eat it up." That request went on for quite some time and involved crying since he could not eat it up. :( But, it was still fun in a "Christmas Vacation with the Griswolds" sort of way.

Sunday we took the boys to Disney on Ice. We couldn't pass it up this year since the show was called "Island Adventures" and Peter Pan had a huge part. This show was perfect for the boys and they were mesmerized the whole time. Sage LOVED Mickey Mousey. It was extra special because Marme and Pappy got to go with us.


 The boys never took their eyes off Peter Pan. And who could blame them? Peter Pan, Wendy, Michael, and John FLEW!!!!  They are already looking forward to next year.

Such a wonderful and special week end, so glad Marmie and Pape could be there.

Enjoyed hearing about the light show. I had to laugh at how often our mental image of something and the reality of kids still make for fun and memories.

Almost to the finish line.

 It's hard to believe that Aiden turns 18 in one week and walks through graduation in just one month. After more than a decade of homeschooling, 2 years of PSEO, and no less than one million moments that I'll treasure forever, my oldest will be an adult and graduated. Great things are ahead for my boy!

Happy Birthday, Cade!

 My littlest is seven and it's hard  not to be sad. We couldn't be without him, and we're so glad he's ours.  At seven years old Cade loves to do what everyone else is doing. He will NOT play by himself, and maybe it's because he's used to having someone to entertain him all the time. He loves legos and soccer. He also loves to read. I am ALWAYS finding Cade trying to tackle reading a book he probably isn't quite ready for. Lately he's been trying to read The Hobbit. While he's able to read all the words, he just doesn't have the depth of understanding to read it independently quite yet. He LOVES Tom Sawyer so he was delighted to find an abridged version to read.  Cade makes up his own mind about things. He will NOT be bossed around. He holds his own, so I don't worry about his brothers pushing him over. Cade also won't be pushed over physically. He is one tough kid.
