A week to go....

It's a week before Christmas and our advent festivities haven't exactly gone as planned. We've been plenty busy but I had hoped to squeeze in more Christmas activities. I've been a tad consumed with Christmas cards that are less than perfect but I've invested too much in them to scrap them and start over. So...be forgiving when you get them. ;) I also wasn't planning on starting Art History and Music in school this week...which is exactly what we did along with doing a tin foil boat experiment, beginning to tell time, assemble a fruit pizza clock, and attempt making a model of the Tower of Babel with clay and toothpicks (or playdough because that's what I had :)). Yesterday Tom and the boys went outside while I was at work with the intent of making a snowman and using the Snowman Kit they got from Auntie Carol. But, the word from Tom as the snow wasn't quite sticky enough. Today we have Kindergarten and tomorrow we have a very special Christmas field trip and a special event planned for Saturday. Even though baking isn't my thing I'm wanting to dust off my cookie press and make Spritz cookies-my favorite! We'll see how much we actually get accomplished before we head to the Cabin for Christmas.



We did manage to make cut out cookies this week. Aiden was pretty self sufficient this year when it came to cutting them out, which was kind of nice.

Sage didn't care about making the cookies and he only ate dough. He didn't actually manage to get frosting on any of his cookies either...he ate that too. ;)
The fruit pizza "clock." Don't judge it harshly. The cranberries were supposed to be put on in the shape of the numbers around the clock. But, my students are five and two and I let them do their own work.

Almost to the finish line.

 It's hard to believe that Aiden turns 18 in one week and walks through graduation in just one month. After more than a decade of homeschooling, 2 years of PSEO, and no less than one million moments that I'll treasure forever, my oldest will be an adult and graduated. Great things are ahead for my boy!

Happy Birthday, Cade!

 My littlest is seven and it's hard  not to be sad. We couldn't be without him, and we're so glad he's ours.  At seven years old Cade loves to do what everyone else is doing. He will NOT play by himself, and maybe it's because he's used to having someone to entertain him all the time. He loves legos and soccer. He also loves to read. I am ALWAYS finding Cade trying to tackle reading a book he probably isn't quite ready for. Lately he's been trying to read The Hobbit. While he's able to read all the words, he just doesn't have the depth of understanding to read it independently quite yet. He LOVES Tom Sawyer so he was delighted to find an abridged version to read.  Cade makes up his own mind about things. He will NOT be bossed around. He holds his own, so I don't worry about his brothers pushing him over. Cade also won't be pushed over physically. He is one tough kid.
