Fun Friday

The boys picked the Science Museum for Fun Friday today. It's Summer vacation so really everyday is like fun Friday, but after the busy week we had I welcomed Friday with open arms. Our first stop at the museum was the Omni Theater. We hadn't yet seen their movie on Dinosaurs. I had low expectations because I figured the movie would be full of half truths and the boys would be scared to death. However, the movie was more truthful than I though it would be and the boys weren't scared at all. The screen made me dizzy so I saw most of the movie with my eyes closed, but all in all it was really fun. :) After that I turned the boys loose to play and when we left I promised we'd come back really soon.
A lot of the stuff at the Science Museum is over the boys' heads. But they love it and I figure eventually all the dots will start to connect and as they learn more scientific concepts they'll hopefully remember seeing the displays at the museum. This picture was taken right before I lost Sage. He was only lost for about 30 seconds, but it might as well have been 30 minutes because I panicked. My greatest moment was saying to my 6 year old, "You go this way, and I'll go that way." Evidently I wanted both of my kids to get snatched by a kidnapper. Sage eventually showed up. True to his independent self, he couldn't reach something. So he had tracked down a stool and was pushing it over to the display he wanted to see. AHHH!

Here is Sage, listening to an explanation of germs and viruses on the phone while using a model of the pertussis bacterium as a phone for his other ear. If you knew that Sage was tested for pertussis last week you'd totally see the irony. ;)

Almost to the finish line.

 It's hard to believe that Aiden turns 18 in one week and walks through graduation in just one month. After more than a decade of homeschooling, 2 years of PSEO, and no less than one million moments that I'll treasure forever, my oldest will be an adult and graduated. Great things are ahead for my boy!

Happy Birthday, Cade!

 My littlest is seven and it's hard  not to be sad. We couldn't be without him, and we're so glad he's ours.  At seven years old Cade loves to do what everyone else is doing. He will NOT play by himself, and maybe it's because he's used to having someone to entertain him all the time. He loves legos and soccer. He also loves to read. I am ALWAYS finding Cade trying to tackle reading a book he probably isn't quite ready for. Lately he's been trying to read The Hobbit. While he's able to read all the words, he just doesn't have the depth of understanding to read it independently quite yet. He LOVES Tom Sawyer so he was delighted to find an abridged version to read.  Cade makes up his own mind about things. He will NOT be bossed around. He holds his own, so I don't worry about his brothers pushing him over. Cade also won't be pushed over physically. He is one tough kid.
