I think that Jenny might just be the friend that I've had for the longest time. We were neighbors our freshman year of college and met because eating lunch at the Linden cafeteria together (even though we were complete strangers) sounded a whole lot better than eating lunch by ourselves. The rest, they say, is history. It's so fun to catch up with one of your best friends and fall into synch and realize that they are the exact same person they were when you lived together for 3 years in college. Jenny is good enough to come visit every year even though it takes an airplane to get here. I look forward to that week of catching up and reminiscing and having heart to hearts. The boys love their "Auntie Jenny." In fact, Sage was looking for her this morning even though we dropped her off at the airport yesterday. Our lives have taken different paths, but friendship (and ISU) is the tie that binds and we're looking forward to next year!

We stayed busy. We went to Stillwater and let the boys play at Teddy Bear Park. Then we went toured these Caves that were built into the limestone in the 1800's, used to be used as a Brewery, and have changed hands and uses multiple times since then. It was semi-interesting.



How could we go to Stillwater and not go to Nelson's for Ice Cream? Yes...that is a kid serving!!!!
Jenny was good enough to go dress shopping with me and endure the Mall of America. We treated the boys (and ourselves) to some rides when we were finished.

On the Ferris Wheel
Possibly the highlight was spending Saturday night (with NO kids) at Psycho Suzi's. Dinner, drinks, the house band, and lots of talking made a great night.

We also went to Tamarak Nature Center. I thought it was pretty cute and the boys and I will be going back. They had a little stream to play in, rocks to climb, a garden to work in and a natural play area.

You can tell Sage and Aiden that Auntie Jenny misses them so much! Give them a big squeeze for me!! I look forward to my visits too, and I ever so glad you asked to have lunch with me all those years ago. Love you Jen!

Almost to the finish line.

 It's hard to believe that Aiden turns 18 in one week and walks through graduation in just one month. After more than a decade of homeschooling, 2 years of PSEO, and no less than one million moments that I'll treasure forever, my oldest will be an adult and graduated. Great things are ahead for my boy!

Happy Birthday, Cade!

 My littlest is seven and it's hard  not to be sad. We couldn't be without him, and we're so glad he's ours.  At seven years old Cade loves to do what everyone else is doing. He will NOT play by himself, and maybe it's because he's used to having someone to entertain him all the time. He loves legos and soccer. He also loves to read. I am ALWAYS finding Cade trying to tackle reading a book he probably isn't quite ready for. Lately he's been trying to read The Hobbit. While he's able to read all the words, he just doesn't have the depth of understanding to read it independently quite yet. He LOVES Tom Sawyer so he was delighted to find an abridged version to read.  Cade makes up his own mind about things. He will NOT be bossed around. He holds his own, so I don't worry about his brothers pushing him over. Cade also won't be pushed over physically. He is one tough kid.
