Project Life 2014 Week 28: Yummy

Week 28: Yummy-Grandmommy has spent Summers at the cabin for decades. She has created something we lovingly call Cabin Magic. And while there are many elements under the umbrella of Cabin Magic, two of the Cabin Magic traditions that are the boys' favorite include the Lolly Pop Tree and Cabin Magic Stories. Cabin Magic Stories are only for kids and no adults are allowed (although I did get to listen to my first and only story when I was 19). The stories are told with the magic story lanterns and always involve a yummy treat, which is most often oven s'mores but this year it was homemade twix bars. The stories are magical and Aiden loves them. He also LOVES the yummy treats and time with his cousins. The other most magical event of the Summer is the growth of the Lolly Pop Tree. Sometime during the week of the 4th of July, when the soil is just right, Grandmommy announces that the night is right for a Lolly Pop Tree to grow. Before bedtime all the kids go outside and plant a Lolly Pop stick and water it well. In the morning a Lolly Pop Tree has grown and the harvest is plentiful. This was Sage's first year participating in the Lolly Pop Tree and he LOVED it. Cabin Magic makes the Lolly Pops taste extra yummy! Cabin Magic lasts as long as you believe, so you better believe that I have nieces and nephews in high school still getting in on the magic and the yummy-ness.

Ever since the first year I knew that Grandmommy did this I have loved it. Always brings a smile to my face.

Almost to the finish line.

 It's hard to believe that Aiden turns 18 in one week and walks through graduation in just one month. After more than a decade of homeschooling, 2 years of PSEO, and no less than one million moments that I'll treasure forever, my oldest will be an adult and graduated. Great things are ahead for my boy!

Happy Birthday, Cade!

 My littlest is seven and it's hard  not to be sad. We couldn't be without him, and we're so glad he's ours.  At seven years old Cade loves to do what everyone else is doing. He will NOT play by himself, and maybe it's because he's used to having someone to entertain him all the time. He loves legos and soccer. He also loves to read. I am ALWAYS finding Cade trying to tackle reading a book he probably isn't quite ready for. Lately he's been trying to read The Hobbit. While he's able to read all the words, he just doesn't have the depth of understanding to read it independently quite yet. He LOVES Tom Sawyer so he was delighted to find an abridged version to read.  Cade makes up his own mind about things. He will NOT be bossed around. He holds his own, so I don't worry about his brothers pushing him over. Cade also won't be pushed over physically. He is one tough kid.
