The Season of Advent Part 3

Macy's Christmas display....I LOVE it! Macy's used to change their display yearly but years ago they stopped and Santa Land has become their signature 8th floor display here to stay. For a couple years I was mad. It was so fun to see something new each year. But now we embrace Santa Land and we LOVE it. I think this was the 8th or 9th year in a row that we've been so it's become a long standing tradition. I've been there with crowds of people and we've been there and had almost the whole place to ourselves, like this morning. Obviously, going on a Monday morning is the best time to go.

Sage was mesmerized. And I was too. Santa Land defines merriment and wonder and magic and all the sweetness that comes with the festivities of an American Christmas Celebration. We  missed our friends who got sick and couldn't go, but we were able to meet up with some other friends and had a lovely morning.

Sage never once faced the camera. He was too busy taking it all in.

If I wasn't lazy I'd dig out 6 years of pictures of my kid(s) in this exact same spot, mostly of the back of their heads.

I remember the first year we took the kiddos there, seems just like yesterday. I too agree that it is kind of neat that it remains the same now because it becomes a great tradition and yearly pictures at the same spot can get captured.

Such fun! I remember when I was a child going to Daytons to see the animated Christmas windows. I love how enthralled the boys are. Magical still are these displays. Glad we got to go along a couple of times and wish we could have been there this year. Thank you for the pictures so in a way we have been there!!

Almost to the finish line.

 It's hard to believe that Aiden turns 18 in one week and walks through graduation in just one month. After more than a decade of homeschooling, 2 years of PSEO, and no less than one million moments that I'll treasure forever, my oldest will be an adult and graduated. Great things are ahead for my boy!

Happy Birthday, Cade!

 My littlest is seven and it's hard  not to be sad. We couldn't be without him, and we're so glad he's ours.  At seven years old Cade loves to do what everyone else is doing. He will NOT play by himself, and maybe it's because he's used to having someone to entertain him all the time. He loves legos and soccer. He also loves to read. I am ALWAYS finding Cade trying to tackle reading a book he probably isn't quite ready for. Lately he's been trying to read The Hobbit. While he's able to read all the words, he just doesn't have the depth of understanding to read it independently quite yet. He LOVES Tom Sawyer so he was delighted to find an abridged version to read.  Cade makes up his own mind about things. He will NOT be bossed around. He holds his own, so I don't worry about his brothers pushing him over. Cade also won't be pushed over physically. He is one tough kid.
