Another week of Advent

Advent activities stood still for a few days this week because Aiden got sick. I don't think everyone has been healthy at our house since before Myrtle Beach. I am hoping this is the last of it because we have paid our dues. This week Sage painted a Christmas house and thankfully Aiden was better today so we went to see The Elves and the Shoemaker Play. I'm praying no one else gets Aiden's sickness because tomorrow night I really want to go to The Bethlehem Walk. 

In an effort to stay caught up on this blog here's the happenings of the week...

Cade's dancing has moved past him just waving his arms and he now does this move we call his "funny arm dance." He kind of makes one arm into a chicken wing and sways back and forth. :)

Sage reads to Cade and it's the sweetest thing. It makes my heart happy. This book in particular he isn't actually reading. He just has it memorized. Sage doesn't realize yet that he could actually read it.

Aiden's assignment from his science teacher this week was to build a catapult. The teacher will then pick a winner from the class and then the whole class will work together to build a very large scale catapult based on the winners design. Aiden is very much hoping his design wins. He had some help from us, but in his defense everyone in the class is much older than Aiden.  The boys have been launching chocolate covered blueberries all over the room. Lots of fun!

Love the videos. Good luck to Aiden on his catapult competition. Elyse and I watched with smiles and really do miss you guys.

Almost to the finish line.

 It's hard to believe that Aiden turns 18 in one week and walks through graduation in just one month. After more than a decade of homeschooling, 2 years of PSEO, and no less than one million moments that I'll treasure forever, my oldest will be an adult and graduated. Great things are ahead for my boy!

Happy Birthday, Cade!

 My littlest is seven and it's hard  not to be sad. We couldn't be without him, and we're so glad he's ours.  At seven years old Cade loves to do what everyone else is doing. He will NOT play by himself, and maybe it's because he's used to having someone to entertain him all the time. He loves legos and soccer. He also loves to read. I am ALWAYS finding Cade trying to tackle reading a book he probably isn't quite ready for. Lately he's been trying to read The Hobbit. While he's able to read all the words, he just doesn't have the depth of understanding to read it independently quite yet. He LOVES Tom Sawyer so he was delighted to find an abridged version to read.  Cade makes up his own mind about things. He will NOT be bossed around. He holds his own, so I don't worry about his brothers pushing him over. Cade also won't be pushed over physically. He is one tough kid.
