Thanksgiving

My parents and my sister came for Thanksgiving and that might just be the thing I was thankful for most this year. It was wonderful for our house to be full and to see the boys having such fun with their grandparents and Ami that they miss so much. West Virginia is fairly lonely. Making friends takes time. And my boys are very much feeling the separation between them and our family. So having family here for Thanksgiving was the sweetest thing. While they were here we also celebrated Christmas and Sage's birthday. It was a jam packed but wonderful three days. We even crammed in gingerbread houses and cookie decorating. This week we've been trying to get back into our routine. When family leaves it makes us sad and we all stay kind of down in the dumps for a few days. Thankfully we've had Advent to cheer us up and Christmas to look forward to. I suspect January will be the pits after all the celebrating is over so we're planning a trip to see Pappy and Marme sometime that month.

The Tuesday before Thanksgiving Tom's cousin Mason and his family stayed with us. They are the couple we love the most and the family we see the least. The 12 hours we spent with them were wonderful.

Boys don't spend all kinds of time making tiny details on gingerbread houses. I think they decorated the house and the cookies in 1 hour.

Almost to the finish line.

 It's hard to believe that Aiden turns 18 in one week and walks through graduation in just one month. After more than a decade of homeschooling, 2 years of PSEO, and no less than one million moments that I'll treasure forever, my oldest will be an adult and graduated. Great things are ahead for my boy!

Happy Birthday, Cade!

 My littlest is seven and it's hard  not to be sad. We couldn't be without him, and we're so glad he's ours.  At seven years old Cade loves to do what everyone else is doing. He will NOT play by himself, and maybe it's because he's used to having someone to entertain him all the time. He loves legos and soccer. He also loves to read. I am ALWAYS finding Cade trying to tackle reading a book he probably isn't quite ready for. Lately he's been trying to read The Hobbit. While he's able to read all the words, he just doesn't have the depth of understanding to read it independently quite yet. He LOVES Tom Sawyer so he was delighted to find an abridged version to read.  Cade makes up his own mind about things. He will NOT be bossed around. He holds his own, so I don't worry about his brothers pushing him over. Cade also won't be pushed over physically. He is one tough kid.
