Sundays

Sundays have been weird for an entire year. After we moved home we hadn't found a church yet and then Covid happened so we did online church all Summer long. Last weekend we actually went to church for the first time since coming to Minnesota. As it turned out a guy I grew up with was one of the pastors there so it was nice to see a familiar face. Aiden went to youth group last week and had an okay time. Being the new kid is the absolute worst and my heart hurt for him, but you have to start somewhere when you make friends. The pastor that I knew was also in charge of youth group so it helped me to know someone would take Aiden under their wing.

Last night when I put Sage to bed he coughed a couple times because he had a tickle in his throat. And this morning on the way to church that tickle returned and Tom and I looked at each other and we both knew we wouldn't be going into church. With Covid the way it is, a cough makes people panic so we watched church in the car on Tom's phone. Covid is such a weird ordeal. While it must be acknowledged that people are dying, Covid carries a high survival rate and the country cannot be locked down again. But people here are panicked. And it just makes life wearisome.

We picked up our groceries and because the boys begged we got take out from Buffalo Wild Wings. I personally can't stand Buffalo Wild Wings. I don't eat chicken wings or meat on the bone in general and the rest of their food is really poor quality. But, everyone else was happy and I didn't have to cook. It's Sunday so the day will bring  rest and prep for the week to come. Tom has to drive into his office for an event or two this week and the boys all have dentist appointments and doctor appointments. Sage has guitar and I need to find something for Aiden and Cade to do. Aiden's November soccer plans didn't pan out because of Covid. Training for Spring is schedule to start January 2nd but I'm not holding my breath.

In school the boys have memorized Ephesians 6:10-18. The battle in our country right now is not one of flesh and blood but one that is in the spiritual realm. We're praying for truth to prevail and freedom to ring and peace to be had. Amen.

Apple Creek

A new year, a new orchard. This year we tried out Apple Creek Orchard and it was a really pretty place. We picked apples, took a hay ride, and the boys had fun with the apple slinger. We were joined by Tom's parents and it feels so good to have them now living close by instead of far away.

Almost to the finish line.

It's hard to believe that Aiden turns 18 in one week and walks through graduation in just one month. After more than a decade of homeschooling, 2 years of PSEO, and no less than one million moments that I'll treasure forever, my oldest will be an adult and graduated. Great things are ahead for my boy!

Happy Birthday, Cade!

My littlest is seven and it's hard  not to be sad. We couldn't be without him, and we're so glad he's ours.  At seven years old Cade loves to do what everyone else is doing. He will NOT play by himself, and maybe it's because he's used to having someone to entertain him all the time. He loves legos and soccer. He also loves to read. I am ALWAYS finding Cade trying to tackle reading a book he probably isn't quite ready for. Lately he's been trying to read The Hobbit. While he's able to read all the words, he just doesn't have the depth of understanding to read it independently quite yet. He LOVES Tom Sawyer so he was delighted to find an abridged version to read.  Cade makes up his own mind about things. He will NOT be bossed around. He holds his own, so I don't worry about his brothers pushing him over. Cade also won't be pushed over physically. He is one tough kid. If Cade is crying, I know he is actually hurt because he never cries ove...
