A Very Merry Christmas

If I could choose a word for Christmas this year, I'd say it was eventful. For as slow as 2020 seemed at times with most things canceled, Christmas was thankfully a normal Christmas for us. After celebrating with my parents the weekend before Christmas, we came home to a sick kitty. Clementine was not herself, had most likely thrown up a hair tie, and needed to go to the vet. She ended up staying over night, needing xrays, bloodwork, and an IV, and THANKFULLY came home after 36 hours and finished recovering. She's back to her normal self and we're thankful she is ok. It was a lesson that God cares even for animals as we felt silly praying, but know we can talk to Jesus about anything.

After the Clementine episode it was time to start getting ready for Christmas. I prepped egg bakes and veggies and muffins for brunch, put together a hot cocoa bar, finished wrapping presents, made up beds for guests, and the gang arrived. Christmas morning I told my 18 year old nephews they better be over to my house by 7 (they were sleeping next door) and not a minute later for Santa presents. They grumbled and complained but we were the ones to over sleep. We all woke up at 7:20 when my nephews started yelling, "WAKE UP WAKE UP WAKE UP!" It was so funny and we were given a lot of grief for over sleeping. The kids found their Santa presents and stockings and Santa never disappoints. We had homemade cinnamon rolls and everyone went to their cabins for their family Christmas. Grandmommy and Grandpa and Dave and Tanya and their family Christmas with us. Then everyone came back over for brunch and the cousin gift exchange. We've been eating cookies, playing outside, and having a wonderful time. Sage had his online guitar recital today and it was fun to share it with grandparents and aunts and uncles. I'm so thankful that in a world where everything is constantly changing, God is constant. Christmas is God's promise of a Savior fulfilled and we'll never not celebrate Him. Merry Christmas!

Apple Creek

A new year, a new orchard. This year we tried out Apple Creek Orchard and it was a really pretty place. We picked apples, took a hay ride, and the boys had fun with the apple slinger. We were joined by Tom's parents and it feels so good to have them now living close by instead of far away.

Almost to the finish line.

It's hard to believe that Aiden turns 18 in one week and walks through graduation in just one month. After more than a decade of homeschooling, 2 years of PSEO, and no less than one million moments that I'll treasure forever, my oldest will be an adult and graduated. Great things are ahead for my boy!

Happy Birthday, Cade!

My littlest is seven and it's hard  not to be sad. We couldn't be without him, and we're so glad he's ours.  At seven years old Cade loves to do what everyone else is doing. He will NOT play by himself, and maybe it's because he's used to having someone to entertain him all the time. He loves legos and soccer. He also loves to read. I am ALWAYS finding Cade trying to tackle reading a book he probably isn't quite ready for. Lately he's been trying to read The Hobbit. While he's able to read all the words, he just doesn't have the depth of understanding to read it independently quite yet. He LOVES Tom Sawyer so he was delighted to find an abridged version to read.  Cade makes up his own mind about things. He will NOT be bossed around. He holds his own, so I don't worry about his brothers pushing him over. Cade also won't be pushed over physically. He is one tough kid. If Cade is crying, I know he is actually hurt because he never cries ove...
