Magic Moments

Rewind back to the days we spent with my parents before we moved. We spent a tiny bit of time on the ISU campus. It was a cold, windy day but I never pass a chance to walk campus, take pictures, and let the boys see where they might go to school. I think it was shortly after this trip to ISU that the boys and I made the trip to West Virginia. The trip went wonderful. It wasn't wonderful in that we had to leave, that part was so very hard and it still is. However, I know there were so many people praying for us because the trip by myself with the boys felt super natural. That was the wonderful part.  Cade hardly cried. I only missed 1 exit in Cincinnati and it was easily fixable. The weather was fine, the boys entertained themselves pretty well and we were safe. The biggest miracle is the time in the car seemed to go fairly quickly. We were very happy to be with Tom again and we're settling into our new home. I can't say I love it here, because I reall...

Cade is growing up. There is no way around it. Somedays I am so relieved he is growing up and won't always be so much to handle. And then there are days when I want him to never ever grow up and stay the sweet baby he is forever. Cade isn't crawling yet. He army crawls all over and he gets on his hands and knees and rocks back and forth. Just tonight Tom had him on his hands and knees and Cade was reaching forward with a hand, but no forward motion just yet. He's a really quick little guy but thankfully he will still sometimes sit in one place to play...at least for about 1 minute. He isn't a big fan of food. He thinks sweet potatoes are ok. He gags on avacado and would probably give thumbs down to carrots and bananas. He did really love sucking on a piece of watermelon though. Who could blame him? Cade can make kissing noises but when he kisses me he still gives me a big goey open mouth kiss and I love it! He knows, "honk my nose" and he'll grab your nose...

It's been almost a month since I've blogged and it feels like I have a years worth of events to record. I FINALLY have internet so I'm planning to get back to normal blogging. Tonight I'm just checking in to say we're still here, our kids are still cute, we're getting settled in our new house, and we had a happy mother's day. Coming soon are blogs about Cade. I'm desperately trying to record his babyhood like I did for Aiden and Sage. And it's not that I have a lack or material, it's just lack of time as we're getting settled while simultaneously battling sleep deprivation because our baby, like his brothers before him, doesn't sleep.  I'll leave you with just a few pictures from today. I'm coveting the camera lens that would make this picture all that I want it to be. For now, here's the fun snap shot. For the record, we've managed to use the potty chair just a couple times. Today we went to Iowa City to visit Uncle Erik and see where he works and goes to school. He gave us a tour of where he spends a lot of time and showed the boys some of what he does with his patients. He was able to use an odoscope to look in the boys' ears and project it onto a screen so they could see what the inside of their ears looked like. He did a hearing test as well with Aiden and as it turns out Aiden can hear every single sound that the machine will make. This is why he somehow hears everything Tom and I talk about. ;) Yesterday we went to the Raptor Center. We had plans to go to the Raptor Center with our coop at the U of M, but sadly we moved and missed the trip. So, it was awesome to find a Raptor Center associated with the U of  I. The boys LOVED seeing the birds. The highlight was the peregrine falcon, the bald eagle, and several different kinds of owls. The day was beautiful and walking around outside was lovely.

Our sweetest baby Cade is seven months today! Honestly, Cade is the apple of everyone's eye. His brothers dote on him, especially Aiden. And Cade eats it all up! We are constantly laughing and smiling about Cade. Just yesterday I said that Cade must think he is absolutely hysterical because we are always laughing about what Cade is doing. At his six month appointment he was almost 19 lbs. He was in the 75% for weight and 95% for height. He is my chubbiest kid by far. The other two boys were barely 20 lbs at one year so Cade is a lug to haul around and I often call him tubo. Cade gets from point A to point B mostly by rolling but he is very efficient at scooting around and can no longer be trusted. I've already found him pulling on lamp cords and trying to get into things on shelves that he can't have. I've worn my beverage at dinner a couple times too because Cade grabbed my glass when I wasn't looking. He can get up on his hands and knees and rock back and forth bu...
