Strawberry Pickin' Time

My blog has been silent for good reason. We arrived home last night after 8 days in Indiana with Tom's whole family celebrating Tom's parents 50th wedding anniversary.  Prior to that I was busy preparing for our trip and today, after a wonderful jam packed week with 25 family members, I'm pretty tired. You can look for a blog about our trip sometime in the next week after I've slept and sorted pictures. Despite just getting home we seized the day and went strawberry picking this morning. I thought we would miss the whole picking season so I was excited to find out our orchard was still allowing pick your own. It was a bonus that Tom was home and could go because since I'm a million months pregnant I was nervous about being able to climb onto a wagon to ride to the fields. ;) We picked a modest 8 pounds which is all I can manage to organize at home and enough time was spent on my hands and knees at the field. Of course we also bought strawberry donuts from their ba...

A week of Soccer

Aiden had a great week at soccer camp. He was absolutely enamored with the teenagers that helped his coach and with their soccer ablilites. They gave him a lot to strive for, that's for sure! He LOVED playing with them and is excited for his soccer career to continue. I'm thankful for his good friends on his team and an opportunity to have such quality coaching. The week focused on skills, drills, and christian character. Thank you Liberty Classical Academy for providing all of this! Can't wait to see you all in the fall! Aiden's team...lovingly called the ankle biters. :)

In Full Swing

These past two weeks have most certainly felt like Summer. We went to see the production of Peter Pan at the Minneapolis Children's Theater and it was fantastic! The boys and I LOVED it. Tom took the boys to their first Twins game and although I think they both got a little bored they've asked to go again. Aiden has had soccer camp all week and soccer games so Sage and I have spent a lot of time at the soccer field. The boys have had the sprinkler out and we've even been to the splash pad. I must say that 90 degrees coupled with being 26 weeks pregnant and sitting at the splash pad makes for misery, but the boys had fun with their friends. Today I'll be sitting with my feet up.

Go Blue!

There is something to be said for the little years when you're living in the trenches surrounded by babies who take so much from you. It's those years that you stay home. Most of the time you're tied down by a nap schedule anyway and staying home is easier than leaving the house. I'm a homebody so staying home doesn't bother me so much. Aiden is getting older and staying home for days on end doesn't happen often even though Sage is still little and we've got a baby on the way. We're in the throws of soccer season and that's how we spend 3 nights a week...sitting at the soccer field. Along with seasonal soccer next week Aiden also has soccer camp all week so I'll get my first taste of living in the car and being the taxi mom. All that to say these last few seasons of soccer have paid off and Aiden is turning into a little power house. His foot work is improving, his accuracy is improving, he' s got confidence and drive and he and a teammate ...

Summer Begins

It's summer and today it actually feels like summer. Just two days ago the boys wore mittens when they played outside. Summer has brought about a huge amount of laziness on my part as I feel like we haven't done much of anything. The boys were productive today as they decided they needed to "work." Aiden wanted his own real tools for his birthday including his own drill and Pappy and Marme delivered. The drill is actually an electric screw driver that looks like a drill bc oh my goodness, he isn't ready for a drill! Anyway, working for the boys means they head to the garage and build who knows what. I was recently told they were building a storm trooper ship. Every so often I have to encourage more creativity because I can't be running to Home Depot everyday to rummage through their discount wood pile to appease their every whim. And we can't really use the garage until every single nail has been removed from the floor. Such is life with boys. ...

It's a BOY!!!!

This is my long overdue post announcing that we are going to be welcoming our 3rd boy into our family!!! We are sooooo excited! We would be excited either way, but truth be told Tom and I were a little bit afraid of having a girl. There is wisdom in sticking with what you know so we're honestly a little bit glad that we aren't treading on all new territory with this new little one. I love the idea of three little boys so no one needs to feel pity for me that I'll never have a daughter.  I don't mind chasing after them and since I already have 2 with unending energy I might as well add a third and not have to worry about dividing my time to do girl and boy things. And, I'll be totally honest, although I would have gladly shared the spotlight with a daughter, I am the apple of Tom's eye and now I get to continue to have him all to myself. ;) Tom always likes to look at the ultra sound first to see if he can figure out if we are having a girl or a boy. I was layi...

Gardening Partners

When it comes to including Tucker, picture perfect moments like these don't happen very often (really, hardly ever). So when they do I make a mad dash for my camera and capture what I can.
