Summer

Admittedly I haven't been the funnest mom in the world this summer. I'm still feeling kinda sick and I'm tired and my movement is pretty limited. So, my poor boys haven't had all kinds of their usual summer adventures and I'm really trying not to feel guilty about that. After all, we all have to sacrifice a little bit to bring a baby into this world. Thanks to Tom there have still been trips to the movie theater, days at the cabin, afternoons at the pool, and trips to the park. Cade will have to be a flexible baby because I'm in the middle of field trip planning for the 2015-2016 school year and I'm really hoping carting an infant around is easier than pregnancy. :) I've documented very little on camera because I'm tired, so this is as good as it gets this year. ;) Like father, like son. They both cashed out while reading in our bed. Of course, Aiden managed to stay awake. Aiden has never voluntarily gone to bed. Even now, I beg him...

32 Weeks

I'm pushing the envelope on 32 weeks pregnant which translates to a million months pregnant especially when the heat outside reaches 100 degrees. Never before have I been more thankful for central air and never before have I pitied all those women pregnant in covered wagon days traveling the Oregon Trail or something as equally as awful with absolutely no  modern convienences. My goodness, how did they survive without ice packs? Anyway, I know buried in this blog I have some thoughts on being pregnant with the boys and I've written nothing about being pregnant with Cade. The reason being, this pregnancy has been more difficult than the other two (not that they were pleasant) and even though the prize at the end is oh, so sweet I haven't had many positive thoughts about my condition.  So, here is a list of thoughts in no particular order on the off chance Cade wants to someday know about his first 9 months of life. 1. Cade moves like Sage. Aiden moved ALL THE TIME. Sage an...

What's In a Name Part: 3

I don't think I thought I'd ever be writing to announce the name of our third child. :) But here I am, about to release the name of our third little boy. Choosing a name was difficult. Mostly I would suggest names and Tom would say "veto." The deal was that I was supposed to get 80% of the name vote because I'm the one that suffers the most, but in the end it was Tom that finally chose a name and I happily agreed. We've been calling him by name for weeks now and it makes everything seem more real, especially for the boys. I've done nothing but buy a few clothes for this child so once my mom comes to help me set up and prepare for this baby I think everything will feel more real, even though all my aches and pains and ailments remind me constantly that I have life growing inside me. This is our most recent picture (taken today) of our sweet boy, Cade Luther. My mom is convinced that his profile looks like Sage. Tom chose the name Cade and I couldn...

4th of July

Keeping with all our cabin traditions we enjoyed our 4th of July complete with fireworks (twice!), a lollypop tree, a carnival, sparklers, a BBQ, and of course lots and lots of friends and family. We're home and last night I laid in bed an thoroughly enjoyed the quiet. ;) I think that means we had a wonderful time at the place we love filled with the people I love the most. Sage's first sparkler! Planting the lollypop tree. The older kids are sweet enough to let Sage pick first. The lollypop harvesters with Uncle Jim who started this magical tradition many decades ago. Sage isn't quite old enough to go to the carnival yet, but Aiden brought him home some Cotton Candy. It was his first taste. No surprise that he loved it! Dressed and ready for the carnival and fireworks. Sage didn't get to go to the carnival yet this year, but he did get to stay up the night before and watch the fireworks over the lake.  Tom sat on the beach to watch them ...

Strawberry Pickin' Time

My blog has been silent for good reason. We arrived home last night after 8 days in Indiana with Tom's whole family celebrating Tom's parents 50th wedding anniversary.  Prior to that I was busy preparing for our trip and today, after a wonderful jam packed week with 25 family members, I'm pretty tired. You can look for a blog about our trip sometime in the next week after I've slept and sorted pictures. Despite just getting home we seized the day and went strawberry picking this morning. I thought we would miss the whole picking season so I was excited to find out our orchard was still allowing pick your own. It was a bonus that Tom was home and could go because since I'm a million months pregnant I was nervous about being able to climb onto a wagon to ride to the fields. ;) We picked a modest 8 pounds which is all I can manage to organize at home and enough time was spent on my hands and knees at the field. Of course we also bought strawberry donuts from their ba...

A week of Soccer

Aiden had a great week at soccer camp. He was absolutely enamored with the teenagers that helped his coach and with their soccer ablilites. They gave him a lot to strive for, that's for sure! He LOVED playing with them and is excited for his soccer career to continue. I'm thankful for his good friends on his team and an opportunity to have such quality coaching. The week focused on skills, drills, and christian character. Thank you Liberty Classical Academy for providing all of this! Can't wait to see you all in the fall! Aiden's team...lovingly called the ankle biters. :)

In Full Swing

These past two weeks have most certainly felt like Summer. We went to see the production of Peter Pan at the Minneapolis Children's Theater and it was fantastic! The boys and I LOVED it. Tom took the boys to their first Twins game and although I think they both got a little bored they've asked to go again. Aiden has had soccer camp all week and soccer games so Sage and I have spent a lot of time at the soccer field. The boys have had the sprinkler out and we've even been to the splash pad. I must say that 90 degrees coupled with being 26 weeks pregnant and sitting at the splash pad makes for misery, but the boys had fun with their friends. Today I'll be sitting with my feet up.
