Happy Birthday, Cade!

Cade is just past 8 weeks and I 'm still processing through his birth. Planning a C-section was never the original plan but after some serious conversations with my midwife the conclusion was it was probably the best plan. We made the wisest decision we could with the information we had. Labor is far different with a c-section as opposed to a natural birth. Being the birth hippie I am I was ready and wanting another all natural birth...my 2nd VBAC. But, that just wasn't in the cards this time around. I would say that the labor process was maybe a bit more mental with a c-section although a natural birth comes with much needed mental focus. But deciding to have a c-section was difficult and it took me time to wrap my mind around the fact that this baby was going to have a much different start to life than I had planned. However, part of any type of birth means choosing what is best and doing it without fear. I wouldn't say that I wasn't afraid of having a c-section (I wa...

Updates

1.I'm going to stop apologizing for posts being infrequent. I wish they were more numerous, but even though Cade is happy baby he's a demanding baby. These days when I'm choosing between eating, sleeping, and showering the blog doesn't make the final cut. But I wish it did. 2. Cade loves to sit and "talk." He'll get my attention and I'll talk to him and he'll smile and coo. He can mimic "ah-goo" and I hear him say it frequently on his own too. He is the sweetest. Aiden thought Cade needed to get a jump start on school so he showed him some pictures in his Atlas this morning and Cade was quite attentive. 1106151906.mp4 from Jenny on Vimeo . 3. Every night I sit by Sage while he goes to sleep. We blow kisses and Sage catches them and decides if he'll put the kiss on his check or in his heart. It's adorable and probably the biggest decision Sage makes all day. ;)   1104151858a.mp4 from Jenny on Vimeo . 4. Hallowee...

Getting bigger everyday

Hi you guys! Cade here. Mama wanted me to check in and post pictures to prove she is taking a few pictures of me. I can't blame her for not taking pictures everyday. I like to be held all day and if I put up with my baby chair for a few minutes mama uses that time to get dressed or eat or take care of my brothers. I don't mind the lack of pictures though. My mama snuggles me and stares at me all day. She says I'm her last baby and so she's soaking all of me in. A photographer came to the house yesterday so I made sure to act really cute for her. Those pictures will make up for the lack my mama takes.  We're living in the moment and enjoying every minute. I'm growing really big! I still don't like to sleep for more than an hour to two at a time, but I can hold my head up really well and I smile a lot. Well, Mama says it's bedtime (what a joke!) so I better go! Time to go hang out with Mama all night!

Sage and his Cozy Coop

This sweet little child is teeter tottering on the edge of toddlerhood and childhood and I just want to stop time. He sounded out his first word yesterday during school and that says a lot about whats going on in his brain. He is absorbing so much and like Aiden he is starting to learn on his own and make connections between what he already knows and new information. It's so fun to watch and at the same time I want him to slow down and stay little. He still hangs onto some of his toddler words and thinks clementines are called tinatines. :) He thinks oatmeal is called A.B.O. And yesterday when I asked him if he swallowed his gum he said, "No, I ate it!" He asks increasingly more questions about God and his own innocent faith is emerging. His interests involve anything with a motor or a button or anything that goes fast. His 4th birthday is coming up and his very own vacuum is at the top of the list. I have a feeling he'll most definitely be getting that! Sage is also ...

Autum at the cabin

The little boys and I went to the cabin last weekend to see Pappy and Marme. It was a beautiful weekend and the boys loved jumping in leaves, riding and driving the John Deere, and roasting marshmallows over the fire. somersaults Sage loves anything with a motor! cart wheels Cade was content to just hang out with Marme.

Jehovah Jire

There was a day last week that I had just gotten out of the shower and the days tasks were before me when Aiden came running upstairs to tell me there was water leaking from the ceiling in the basement bathroom. I ran down to check and sure enough, there were drips coming from the ceiling. It doesn't take much to send me into panic mode so immediately my head started spinning with visions of ripping out a ceiling, repairing and replacing pipes, remediating the entire basement for mold and the dollar signs kept piling up. It was then that the Holy Spirit stepped in and I shut the bathroom door and just decided to pray. Right away I was reminded of God's name, Jehovah Jire-my provider. And I prayed that God would somehow provide an easy solution. After talking to my mom who told me to just calm down and then talking to my dad and doing a little investigation I figured out that water only leaks if there is water on the floor upstairs. Tom has been preaching about not getting water...

1 month old today!

Cade is one month old today and is still very much a newborn but each day I can see little ways that he is changing into a baby. He is still sleeping lots (during the day) but is waking up for longer stretches at a time. He is much more interested in faces and listens when I talk. He tries really hard to talk back but that translates into a bunch of baby grunts and his whole body wiggling since he hasn't quite found he can control his voice yet. He's been wanting to smile for a week or two now and just this morning I got the first honest to goodness smile during our conversation. That smile took quite a bit of work so I think they'll be few and far between until Cade gets everything figured out and the smile start to flow. Cade's head control is good and has been since he was born, but he's holding it up for longer now and looking around alot. He has also already found his feet and likes to try to stand and put his weight down! He'll be running, just like my oth...
